The Story Mapping Lavasa: Digital Humanities project engages with critical methodologies of digital humanities and spatial historiography to archive and analyze the oral histories of individuals who migrated to Lavasa from various regions. Initially conceived as part of a Refugee Studies assignment, this initiative meticulously documents the narratives of these migrants, situating them within the broader context of Lavasa, a fully planned and constructed city modeled after the Italian fishing village of Portofino. By employing advanced digital tools such as GIS mapping and narrative visualization, the project provides a nuanced exploration of migration, urban development, and identity formation. Through this interdisciplinary approach, Story Mapping Lavasa not only preserves the lived experiences of its residents but also critically examines the implications of constructing a city from the ground up, fostering a reflective discourse on place-making, memory, and the formation of communal spaces.
